Ok the provisionally named TPL has begun again and with 2 games under most team's belts the season promises to be a doozy. While we skipped our usual fine coverage on the first game of the season I actually paid attention to some of the games this week and here are a few thoughts.
TFC1-1 JFC: This was a very good match and despite the 7 hour warm up session by the Japanese in the grueling heat it was a pretty fast paced affair. TFC seemed to be slightly more dominant with a few better chances created but they couldn't quite seem to find the winning touch they need to finish JFC off.
Carnegies 0-0 Lions: A hard fought physical game with a few flashes of skill characterized this battle of the 2 Carnegies sponsored squads. Carnegies were unlucky to be denied a good blast from distance when new Lion Curt saved the day and headed the chance off the line. At the other end Tim Brown characteristically tried to bundle one in with his belly but it edged inches (feet?) wide.
Shane 3-3 Taan: Yet another draw helps keep the leadership race in question. When I left just before half time Taan were having their way with Shane. Steve Raymond's pace and the other Taan forwards skill proving too much for the mightiest of mighty, what the hell happened in the second half?
Black Star 4-2 Celts: Black Star moves to the top of the table with the Animals on break this week. Celts can take some heart with 2 goals showing they've got some sting in them as the Black Star could be strong enough to challenge for the title this season.
