We have set a date for ‘World Cup Taiwan,’ and hope to get as many national (grandparent rule applies) teams to create a multi-ethnic tournament, where everyone shares in the love of the game. Football is a sport that brings people together, and we hope to do our bit in Taiwan.
We will hold the football tournament on June 5/6 at Da Zhi Park, Taipei, a week before the World Cup in South Africa starts. To be as inclusive as possible i.e. to get teams from smaller ex-pat communities to play, we will not decide on the format (i.e. 7 / 9 / 11 a side) until May – the more teams the more likely it will be 7 or 9 a side.
As of now the following eight teams have confirmed but we expect to have at least 14to 16 teams.
Ireland, England A, England B, Canada, USA, Nigeria, Japan, Taiwan
With interest from teams from Ghana, Gambia, Germany, Honduras, France, Australia/New Zealand, and other Latin American countries. We would definitely like to have a South African team and have 16 teams overall and get players from Taichung, Tainan, and Kaoshiung involved.
If you want to play or enter a team….
If you want to represent your country and play for one of the teams mentioned above or if you wish to enter a team (i.e. have a minimum of 7 players) then please send an email to
